Sažetak
The paper explores the aspects of Norse pastoral farming in Eastern Settlement on Greenland and the assumption of communal pastoralism. The basis of collective economic activities was evaluated through the analysis of possible communication routes between farmsteads and their catchment areas. Resulting pathways were assessed in comparison with the positions of shielings as localized expressions of economic pursuits. Through exploration of the modelled path system in Vatnahverfi region, it is apparent that shielings were found in the vicinity of optimal paths between farmsteads.
