Sažetak
Optically active polythiol esters (PTE) were prepared by polymerization of (S)-a-p-toluenesulfonamido β-propiothiolactone in bulk, in dimethylformamide (DMF) solution, and from benzene-water interface. By the light scattering method the optical anisotropy of the polymers dissolved in DMF was studied. In the determination of molecular weights it was found necessary to correct the Rayleigh ratios for the anisotropic scattering. The optical anisotropies of the PTE samples were found to be significantly higher than those recorded for ordinary flexible polymers. The possible secondary structure of the polymer in solution is discussed in view of the light scattering data.
