Sažetak
On the territory of the Spačva forest, basin 683 horse flies were sampled. These horse flies were classified into 24 species, the most numerous of which are the species: Chrysops viduatus with 26.06%, Hybomitra bimaculata with 16.69%, Tabanus sudeticus with 15.81% and Haematopota pluvialis with 9.95% in the sample. These four species of horse flies make up 68.51% of the horse fly fauna in the Spačva forest basin. In the course of 1996, the species Chrysops viduatus, Tabanus sudeticus and Haematopota pluvialis reached their peak of abundance in July, whereas Hybomitra bimaculata was most abundant in the month of May. For other species, seasonal abundance analysis was not performed since they were represented with only a few specimens in the sample. Samplings have been carried out on 13 locations covering 8 fields on the UTM grid of Croatia.
