Sažetak
This study investigates possible approaches to improving the current online Croatian Scientific Bibliography (CROSBI) using open source tools. Special attention is given to the progress and development of CROSBI from its original inception in 1997 toward a new concept for the present and future guided by new user demands and expectations for such an information service. This thesis gives a brief historical perspective on the overall development of the bibliography, from it's analog (written and printed) beginnings to it's digital (online) development. Today libraries are redefining their roles to meet the expectations of a networked society. This thesis examines how a content management system implemented with Drupal could provide a framework to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge management system for the Croatian academic and research community. The premise that Drupal as an open source CMS implementation should be used for further development of CROSBI is supported by definition, explanation and comparative study. This paper concludes with a tangible and demonstrable basis for further research and development by providing a prototype system located at http://mihovil.unizd.hr. The prototype may be used to implement an array of features toward a potentially new implementation of the Croatian Scientific Bibliography.
