Sažetak
Gabriele D’Annunzio (born March 12, 1863, Pescara, Italy ‒ died March 1, 1938, Gardone Riviera, Italy), was an Italian writer, poet, journalist, playwright and soldier during World War I. In 1919 he occupied the port of Fiume (The City of Rijeka in present-day Croatia) with 300 supporters in defiance of the Treaty of Versailles. Viktor Car Emin (born November 1, 1870, Kraj, present-day Croatia ‒ died April 17, 1963, Opatija, present-day Croatia), was a Croatian writer and publicist, strongly supporting Croatian National Revival in Istrian Peninsula. During the World War II, in exile, Viktor Car Emin writes his novel about D'Annunzio's occupation of Fiume, published in 1946. Nowadays, because of its postmodern par excellence style, Danuncijada. Romansirana kronisterija riječke tragikomedije 1919. – 1921., is considered to be one of the best novels in Croatian literature. This paper analyses the Emin’s novel, indicating that the author proves/denounces D'Annunzio's conquest of Fiume at a symbolic and psychoanalytical level where the City is seen as a woman. In his portrait of D’Annunzio, Emin denounces profusion of transgressions ‒ the deliberate violations of the status quo, social, linguistic, artistic and other orders in various domain.
