Sažetak
This report deals with experimental identification of appropriate mathematical models of ultracapacitors, batteries and flywheels suitable for energy management/power flow analysis applications. For that purpose, a battery/ultracapacitor test setup comprising two two-quadrant DC/DC converters has been built and appropriate control system has been designed in order to facilitate relatively high-bandwidth battery/ultracapacitor current control for charging and discharging operating regimes. An experimental setup for flywheel energy storage system tests, which is currently under development, has also been outlined. The experimental identification of batteries/ultracapacitors is based on the well-known quasi-static process models of aforementioned energy storage systems, which include internal resistance effects, and electrical charge capacity effects (i.e. ultracapacitor capacitance and battery charge capacity vs. discharging current dependence). These mathematical models are then used to build up appropriate control-oriented simulation models, which are then validated against the experimentally-recorded data. In the case of the flywheel drive, the principles of identification of flywheel drive dynamic model including servomotor torque characteristics, flywheel inertia and servodrive mechanical and electrical losses are outlined in preparation for subsequent experimental verification upon the completion of the flywheel experimental setup.
