English language has become widely used, and in order to be competent in a contemporary world, one must learn it. Learning can be easier and more interesting if instructors use Information and Communication Technology to present the materials. This thesis will explore types of e-Learning and its history in its theoretical part. In its practical part pupils’ attitudes towards Skype lessons and action research on Skype lesson will be presented. This thesis consists of two parts – the theoretical and practical one. The theoretical part consist of nine chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which explains the importance of technology in the contemporary world. The second part explains the term of e-Learning. The third chapter gives an overview of the history of e-Learning, whereas the fourth chapter explains the application of e-Learning in education. In the fifth chapter, traditional versus e-Learning skills are compared, while the sixth chapter explains e-learning styles and preferences. The seventh chapter explains types of e-Learning. The eight chapter shows the application of ICT Curricula in Croatia, and the ninth one shows e-Learning initiatives and project. The practical part shows the action research and research of pupils’ attitudes. The aim was to investigate whether or not the pupils consider Skype lessons to be more interesting and educational than regular lessons. Different attitudes are also presented with respect to pupils’ age. The conclusions sum up the theoretical facts and findings that are presented. The research shows that pupils are more satisfied with Skype lessons than with their regular lessons. They find them more interesting, less tedious and more encouraging. The findings have shown that pupils are more active in lessons, and that they are encouraged to use English more compared with regular lessons.
