Sažetak
Of the 50-odd Roman stelae so far known in northern Croatia (southern Pannonia), 19 belonged to soldiers. While only six of them survive completely, the majority are preserved enough to be suitable for a broad typological and chronological classification. The general chronological framework is from the mid-1st to the late 3rd century AD, with the evidence divided in three broad chronological groups (I-III), each taking roughly a century. In this paper the steale of northern Croatia are discussed against the background of the main parameters of their research: number, rank and status of the owners and commemorators, social context, territorial and chronological distribution, typology, and the workshop provenance.
