Sažetak
The aim of this work was to learn more on the machanism of action of tannic acid and tannates on the differnt rust phases formed on mild steel. Experiments in tap water have demonstrated the formation of a sparingly soluble Ca-tannate. The precipitation of this could be elimintated by addition of citric acid to the solution. The efficiency of tannic acid on the protection of clean or rusted steel surfaces was shown by potentiondynamic polarization measurement.
