Sažetak
Contemporary school is oriented to the development of student’s creative potential which may be encouraged in different subjects. One of these subjects is music which should be primarily actively and creatively organized. The intention of the author is to describe how to upgrade the level of pupils' music understanding stimulating creativity. For that kind of approach we suggest a smaller group of pupils, working in extracurricular music class or as a project during the regular music lesson. The proposed model starts with the listen to music activity with prior defined tasks about music components followed by creating a new music piece based on these elements. By experiencing, observing, noticing, intellectually following and explaining the components like: rhythm, melody, dynamics, tempo, music form, pupils show the level of their theoretical music understanding. With the goal that pupils' knowledge became practical, the music making activity follows. The recognition and awareness of musical elements helps them in creating similar or new compositions made by the well-known music elements. The result of such work is a better understanding of musical elements and music in general, the practical demonstration of acquired knowledge, the stimulation of the creativity and active pupils' participation in the teaching process.
