Sažetak
The geodetic datum parameters are presented between the world’s quasi-standard, the geocentred WGS84 datum and the datums used for the XIXth century topographic maps of Croatia. Together with the datum, the map projection is discussed. This data set enables to fit the old Croatian maps to the modern ones in GIS packages without using selected ground control points but using only the indicated grid values and crosshairs, or the map frames and corners of the usual 1:75000 sheets. The shift parameters between the old Croatian datum and the WGS84, are the followings: Ellipsoid: Bessel 1841 (a = 6377397.155 m ; f = 1/299.1528128) Molodensky-type location parameters: dX = +675m ; dY = –108 m ; dZ = +447 m. The map projection parameters are the followings: Projection type: in GIS practice it is suitable to choose either Cassini or oblique Stereographic (Roussilhe-type or Extended Stereographic) projection. False Eastings=False Northings = 400000 meters Scale factor = 1.0 Coordinates of the projection center: Ф=45° 44’ 21, 25” Λ=16° 25’ 23, 16” If no projection coordinate lines are indicated on the 1:75 000 sheets, the correct way of the georeferencing is the following: define an oblique Stereographic projection with a center at the geometric center of the sheet. The four corners of the sheet can be used as ground control points. The map coordinates of them should be given in this local Stereographic projection, and the datum parameters of the Bessel ellipsoid should be set as provided above. Then, a map-to-map reprojection can be applied to transform the sheet content to the modern map projection systems, eg. to UTM or the Croatian HDKS grid.
