Sažetak
All previous knowledge on the ancient Greek coroplastic art pieces found in Croatia’s territory, specifically at central Dalmatian sites, rests on the typological and stylistic analysis of the small number of whole and high number of fragmentary terracotta items found in Vis (ancient Issa). This is in fact a diverse and significant collection of anthropomorphic and zoomorphic figurines, mostly dated to the Hellenistic period, which are now held in the Archaeological Museum in Split. The focus of this work is the terracotta figures associated with graves and the area of the two Issaean necropolises: Martvilo and Vlaška njiva. The purpose of studying them is to shed light on their original workshop, distribution, multiple uses and similar problems, and thereby deepen insight into the social and cultural life of ancient Issa.
