Sažetak
The first Athletes Forum of the IOC Athletes Commission (IOC AC) held in 2002 was one of the early events to identify the challenges faced by the top level athlete’s transition from sport to labour market and the associated challenges. To date, this transition still remains a major focus and continues to receive increasing awareness (from the A2B project, 2010). The intention of the presentation is to offer an overview of the current situation related to dual career, sports career transition, dual career and employment. Researchers have identified demands of dual career in sport and education and delivered successful results in sport as well as positioned themselves for a long term contribution in the labour market. Furthermore, the European Commission has published the EU Guidelines on Dual Career of Athletes (2012) with the aim to raise awareness in Member States about the concept of dual careers. What should we do to support athletes in sports career transition? How could Fair Play movement be involved in this process? - these are some of the questions which we are going to answer and to implement in the Congress conclusions.
