Sažetak
While illustrating fictional narratives, military campaigns or scientific discoveries, Ottoman miniaturists avoided the mimesis of nature. Intentionally omitting the transient and the worldly, they obtained multiple elevated viewpoints showing different moments and perspectives of the same event in a single sight. Not attempting to "portray the outward world of senses" directly, but indirectly the "immutable essence of things" (Burckhardt, Titus, 1976: Art of Islam), they entered their paintings as if drawing architectural axonometric projections, sections or plans. My suggestion to those who attempt to understand the spatial reality of Kosovo is to follow backwards their path.
