Sažetak
There is a different burden on the inhabitants of eastern Croatia with regard to the so far investigated elements. Aim is to determine concentration of metals and metalloids in serum, urine and hair in the inhabitants of Vukovar, Slavonski Brod and Vinkovci. Samples of serum, urine and hair of 112 subjects were analyzed by the ICP-MS method on 24 metals and metalloids related to warfare. Higher concentration for selected elements Al, As, B, Cd, Co, Cr, Fe, Li, Mg, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sr, Tl, U, V i Zn were determinated in one or more samples compare to literature. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) pointed to certain differences between the investigated areas. The burden of As of subjects from the Vinkovci area is related to the previously proven burden of drinking water in this area, the Cd load in connection with smoking habits, while the Sb load on the Slavonski Brod area has yet to be thoroughly investigated.
