Sažetak
As a primary economic activity agriculture has witnessed many changes in the past few decades based on proliferation of advanced spatial technologies. One of the new agricultural areas with high presence of spatial technologies is called precise agriculture (PA) or precision farming (PF). With the development of satellite navigation and the possibility to monitor agricultural machinery operation on the ground, the PA becomes a tool for the reduction of agricultural equipment costs, food prices and environmental pollution caused by agro- chemicals. Farmers in developed countries already regularly apply PA due to its numerous advantages. The goal of this study is to show the possibilities of applying geospatial technologies in the development of the first phase of the PA system for the agricultural estate “Baštica” in Croatia. This refers to aerophotogrammetry, the development of the field cartograms and bathemteric survey of the Vlačine Dam, as a major source of agricultural water for Baštica estate. A GIS data base was developed to aid agro-monitoring of different types of crops and to control water consumption. In this way, the management of the Baštica irrigation system is potentially optimized, which can make it possible to reduce water losses
