Sažetak
Lysimetric measurement of water discharge and nitrates concentration (NO3) in percolated soil water was studied at a site in Croatia. In the Garnier lysimeters there were undisturbed Eutric Cambisol, alluvial and pseudogley soils 0.6 m deep. During 1992-1996 the precipitation, water discharge, nitrates concentration in water discharge, fertilization and crop yield were analysed. The precipitation ranged from 769-1008 mm, and the annual discharge was ~17 to 43% of the total precipitation. Fluctuations of nitrates concentration in the percolate vary widely from 1 to 261/litre. The crops winter vetch and rye, maize, winter barley, oilseed rape, clover, Phacelia tanacetifolia and winter wheat were fertilized only with mineral fertilizers. Nitrogen fertilization was from 16- 140 kg a.i./ha. Concentrations of nitrates in soil water percolate above maximum allowable concentrations of 44.3 mg NO3/litre for category I and II of groundwater were often in the cold and humid period of the year and after fertilizing the winter crops with larger quantities of nitrogen.
