Sažetak
Abrasion wear of shaft sleeves on vertical turbine pump resulted in considerable losses, so some tribological activities were applied to reduce them. These tribological activities which are therefore proposed to reduce wear are: application of thermal spray coatings directly to the shaft journals, by which the use of shaft sleeves might be avoided and direct and indirect costs caused by these parts getting worn out, reduced. Efficiency of the proposed tribological wear reduction activities has been confirmed by laboratory test method for measuring abrasion wear using "dry sand/rubber wheel" apparatus (ASTM G65-94 standard). Specimens with NiCr and NiCrWC coatings proved better abrasion resistance than specimens of shaft sleeve material (steel X55CrMo14, hardened and tempered, hardness 50 HRC). Comparing abrasion resistance of the coatings, it was evident that the NiCr and NiCrWC coatings had approximately the same loss of mass after 100 revolutions of wheel. However, after 2000 revolutions of wheel, NiCr coatings showed significantly lower resistance than NiCrWC coatings. Higher abrasion resistance of NiCrWC coating after a longer period of wear was the result of high hardness tungsten carbide presence in the matrix. According to the results of testing, the best effects (better abrasion resistance) would therefore be achieved by the application of NiCrWC coating to the shaft journals.
