Sažetak
PhD thesis “Career maturity as a determinant of successful career transition” will monitor the career development of adolescents who are currently in the research phase of professional development that includes developmental tasks of crystallization, specification and implementation of the career choice (Super, Savickas & Super, 1996). We will monitor students in the last year of their high school education and in the year after that, when they will already make their career choices. The successfulness of the task fulfillment in the research phase will be measured with various instruments for career maturity. We will also study whether high career maturity in high school is a determinant of successful career transition. We assume that high career maturity of students will result in successful professional outcomes such as work/study motivation and work/study efficiency. Career maturity should be correlated with professional outcomes such as good career choice, work satisfaction and successful work behavior (Betz, 1988). However, although there are clear assumptions, there is a lack of studies that have examined the direct relationship of career maturity and professional outcomes. The career maturity is often related to congruence as a measure of harmony between personal traits and his work environment. Therefore the main goal of my study is to examine the mediation effects of congruence between interests and career choices in the explanation of relationship between career maturity and work/study motivation and work/study successfulness.
