Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to present an experimental testing of the mechanical behavior of plated specimens made of European mild structural steel S275 and S355 during the monotonic and cyclic loading. Under the seismic action, structural steel members usually have to resist large cyclic displacements that occur inelastic deformation of the material from which the structure is built. The local strains of steel material in the plastic deformation area of the structural member are not proportional to the deformations. This means that under symmetrical displacement cycles in the structure, lead to unsymmetrical and variable strains in the material. This occurs due to hardening of material, local buckling, and imperfection of structural members. In order to simulate the aforementioned effects on structural steel, an experimental displacement control procedure was performed. Due to buckling problem under the compression strain, the non-standard specimens is chosen and shaping procedure of specimen is presented in this paper. Cyclic loading test was programmed according to SAC 2000 loading protocol under the deformation which is greater than yield strain. Obtained experimental test results of European structural mild steel showed that mechanical behavior under monotonic and cyclic loading was different. Ultimate and fracture strain were reduced if compared cyclic and monotonic results. This occurs due to damage accumulation which affects the ductility reduction.
