Sažetak
Fault diagnosis and monitoring of rotating machines has an important role in the modern competitive industries. One of the biggest issues for machines operators is proper and reliable work of a machine and obtaining quality data that indicate machine condition. Because of the safety and reliability of the industrial and energy process, it is necessary to provide measurement of various numbers of quantities. This includes electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical values which may indicate problems with machine health or even the occurrence of faults in their early stage. Furthermore, any malfunctions or unnecessary and unplanned outages can cause extensive material damage. Therefore, the way to alleviate or even prevent such events is implementation of various measurements and condition monitoring systems. Beside classical measurements that are performed on non-rotating parts of the machine, nowadays measurements on rotating parts of the machine lie in focus. Measuring values directly on a machine rotor can detect major problems in progress, but these measurements have some challenging tasks that need to be overcome. The limiting factors are related with continuous power source for the measuring device, wireless measurement transfer (transmitting and retrieving data to the end user), implementing sensors, dealing with centrifugal forces, etc. When installed on synchronous machines the monitoring device can be powered from the excitation, but this is not the case with induction machines. To overcome this limitation, the self-powering device that harvests magnetic field pulsation within an air-gap has been designed. The paper presents technical solution that aims to improve micro energy harvesting device for AC machines that also serves as a diagnostic probe embedded within the air-gap of the machines. Due to the pulsations of magnetic fields that occur in the machine, certain amount of voltage is induced. The harvester is a measuring coil (designed in PCB technology) which uses this voltage to power the system. The same induced voltage can be used for diagnostic purposes – inter-coil short detection in armature winding of a machine. The paper describes theoretical background and shows numerical calculations of the designed Energy harvester using FEM model of the synchronous machine. Also, the experimental results obtained by the measurement on the real machine is presented. The designed system is a complete solution for monitoring of mechanical, electromagnetic and heat values of the rotor (e.g. magnetic field, temperature, excitation current and voltage, etc.). This solution can therefore be equally applied with synchronous and asynchronous machines and ensures enough energy for powering various measurement equipment installed on a rotor. The paper presents a wireless system for measuring various rotor parameters using energy harvester. To demonstrate the benefits of the technology additionally, the paper also describes the implementation on the hydro generator in one power plant.
