Sažetak
This report confirms that operational post-collection information system was set up within the blood/plasma collection establishment. Look-back consisted of tracing back and further testing of previous donations for one month prior to the last negative donation as there were no more donations. Otherwise, look-back should consists of tracing back and further testing of previous donations for at least 6 months prior to the last negative donation. Donations, which have not been processed were identified and withdrawn from processing. We also confirmed that the application of NAT to blood or plasma donations, particularly for hepatitis C, has the potential to detect infectious donations in the window period, i.e. before the development of antibodies. The sensitivity of the test is of primary importance. Namely, although we use very sensitive RT-PCR test a virus low copy number and dilution factor in pools, markedly compromises assay sensitivity.
