Sažetak
This final thesis deals with the classification and stylistic differences of 60 PUs found in British (Sporting Life) and in Croatian (Sportske novosti) daily sports newspapers from June to August of 2017. For the classification of the phraseological units of the corpus, Sabine Fiedler’s classification of conventional and special types of PUs and of PUs with special elements was used. The stylistic characteristics of phraseological units were based on the functional styles of the language which differ from literary-artistic, conversational, publicist, administrative, and scientific style. The majority of phraseological units within the corpus are classified as phraseological nominations, paraphrasal verbs and phrasal verbs and they mostly belong to the conversational, publicist and literary-artistic style.
