Sažetak
The diploma thesis deals with the influence of the English language on other languages, including Croatian. The theoretical part of the thesis elaborates the language contact and the history of the research of language contact. It also defines and classifies Anglicisms and analyses their adaptation in the borrowing language according to the orthographic, phonological, morphological and semantic level. The second part of the thesis is a research of Anglicisms collected from two Croatian regional newspapers (Međimurje and Međimurske novine). The research is based on the analysis of the adaptation of collected Anglicisms on the orthographic and semantic level. Therefore, the analysis includes four principles of basic form formation and three degrees of transsematization. Analysed corpus consists of 75 Anglicisms, related to various fields of human activity, including sports, lifestyle, fashion, culture, music and business.
