Sažetak
The perception of the Adriatic as a backwater of the Mediterranean world is a function of the relative paucity of information from the region. Focused programs of archaeological research are new to Adriatic. By merely asking the basic questions and by applying standard field procedures, the AIP has revealed a rich archaeological record with the potential for answering many contemporary questions. In this paper we discuss the implications of our research for questions about Neolithic settlement and later transformations of society. Examples are drawn from our work on three different Dalmatian islands over the last decade.
