Sažetak
A truth is among the first abstract concepts that human beings learn in early childhood, but the rest of life sometimes is not enough to reveal all the meanings contained in the concept of truth. The truth may be defined in different ways, depending on whether it is mentioned in the philosophical, scientific, communicative, or religious context. The boundaries of these contexts may be fluid or vague. In philosophy truth is mainly a cognitive term, differently defined. In legal science truth means matching the content of a concept or statement of facts with these facts. In historiography the interpretation, based on selection and ranking of facts, is presented as a truth. But in religion the truth is the information about the deity and his will, revealed or mediated in a supernatural way. Concepts of religion and faith can be also identical or disparate, depending on the discourse that treats them. Even the concept of science differs from language to language, from culture to culture. The impression that these terms – truth, science, religion – are clear by themselves, without any further explanation, can contribute to misunderstandings or conflicts among science and religion.
