Sažetak
During the past decade Croatia has become a popular European destination for millions tourists each summer. Besides natural beauties, Croatia also have problem caused its specific geological position. During the recent decades studies conducted in the area of eastern Croatia revealed the high concentrations of inorganic arsenic in groundwaters. Since the groundwaters are the main source of drinking water for the population in this area, almost 200 000 people are daily drinking water with arsenic concentration ranging from 10 to 610 μ g/L. Population exposure to arsenic was also confirmed with hair analysis. In order to reduce the exposure of population to toxic effects of arsenic, during the recent years, several drinking water techniques are used with more or less efficiency. And there is also problem of arsenic appearance in other aspect of environment as a consequence of uncontrolled wastewater discharges in environment.
