Sažetak
This work analyzes the concept of love among African American female friends. Their “friendly” love, i.e. strong emotional connection of female characters in both novels by Toni Morrison was depicted as a necessary means in overcoming racism and sexism that African American women were exposed to. Such friendships became a means of self-realization and emancipation for African American women who were subjected to repression both by white and black men.
