Sažetak
The ignition delay proper definition is an essential element of any numerical model for direct injection diesel engine in cylinder process simulation. This paper presents ignition delay proper definitions and selection for usage in quasi-dimensional numerical models. Because of the specificity of such numerical models, ignition delay must be carefully defined and tested before its usage. Developed quasi-dimensional numerical model with properly defined ignition delay is validated by using diesel engine laboratory measurements. The ignition delay influence on heat release rate for various measured engine operating points is analyzed. The change of ignition delay for several observed control volumes in engine cylinder was presented and discussed. Proposed ignition delay coefficients can be used in simulations of various direct injection diesel engines, not only for the simulation of tested one.
