Sažetak
A total of 405 juvenile gilt sardine Sardinella aurita VALENCIANNES, were obtained by random sampling from the bay of the Novigrad Sea (central part of the eastern Adriatic), which is Zrmanja river estuary. Gilt sardine were caught by purse seine as well as with beach seine. Representative samples were collected monthly, from their first occurrence in this area in October 2000 to April 2001. Minimum and maximum lengths recordered were 8.0 cm and 15.0 cm respectively. Minimum and maximum weights recorded were 3.12 g 20. 08 g respectively. Modal number of vertebrae was 46. Length-weight relationship obtained for gilt sardine (w=0.0103 L 2.7744) were used to estimate relative condition. Monthly fluctuations in growth of gilt sardine juveniles were observed as well
