Sažetak
Based on the analysis of student teachers' essays, the competences of a pre-service foreign language teacher were stated. Students were asked to rank the stated competences in terms of their importance and to evaluate their own development of each competence. The results obtained by the analyses of the questionnaire were discussed and implications for further research and teacher preparation were pointed out.
