Sažetak
The paper deals with the nature of foreign language teacher education. First, the author analyses core competences of a modern foreign language teacher. Second, the roles and the relationship of theory and practice in language teacher education are discussed. Third, pre-service teachers' learning experiences are analyzed in terms of their beliefs about contents and practices in foreign language teacher education. Finally, implications for future teacher education are made in terms of the principles that should lie behind this educational process.
