Sažetak
In this work we report the synthesis of a copper(II) complex, with an imine derived from 2- hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde (naph) and 3- aminoacetophenone (aaph), which crystallize in two polymorphic forms. The main goal of this work was solid state synthesis of both polymorphs via liquid assisted grinding (LAG). We describe the importance of solvent in directing the supramolecular outcome. LAG of copper(II) acetate monohydrate and imine with a catalytic amount of the triethylamine/methanol mixture gives Form I, while LAG with a catalytic amount of the triethylamine/acetonitrile mixture give pure Form II. Next, we attempted to simplify the solid state synthesis by a one-pot twostep approach. LAG of naph, aaph and copper(II) acetate monohydrate with a catalytic amount of the triethylamine/methanol or triethylamine/acetonitrile mixture gives Form I. Furthermore, accelerated ageing [1, 2] of a mixture of reactants, obtained by gentle grinding of naph, aaph and copper(II) acetate monohydrate in an agate mortar under normal laboratory conditions, for 7 days at 98% RH at 45 °C gives pure Form I.
