Sažetak
This paper discusses the plural form Dalmatiae, -arum, frequently used in the Late Antique and Early Medieval sources for designating the territory of the eastern Adriatic coast. It gives an overview of the various theories that have emerged in historiography and related sciences about the origin and the meaning of this term. It also presents positive and negative aspects of previous interpretations and offers the most complete record of all historical sources which refer to the plural Dalmatiae, -arum. The paper concludes with new proposals for possible historiographic interpretations.
