Sažetak
The Dark Tetrad (DT) represents a cluster of socially toxic personality traits consisting of psychopaty, narcissism, Machiavellianism and sadism. Given both the similarities and distinctiveness of these traits, the aim of this study was to explore the network of the DT by identifying its relations with empathy, aggressiveness and impulsivity using network analysis, a novel theoretical approach to personality. Data was collected on 546 participants from the general population using Short Dark Triad, Short Sadistic Impulses Scale, Affective and Cognitive Measure of Empathy, Aggressiveness Questionnaire AVDH, and UPPS Impulsive Behavior Scale. Results of lasso concentration network showed thatpsychopathy is the central node in the DT network, and has strong positive relationswith sensation seekingas a dimension of impulsivity and vengefulness as a dimension of aggressiveness. Narcissism is the next central node from the DT, and is mostly related to dominationas a dimension of aggressiveness, while Machiavellianismis mostly related to vengefulness. Sadism is the most peripheral node and it is mostly negatively related to affective empathy. Relative importance network revealed that psychopathy better explains other variables, especially sensation seeking, while the rest of the DT traits are better explained by other variables. In sum, the results of this study showed distinction between the DT traits and revealed the centrality of the DT.
