Sažetak
The main aim of the paper is to discuss the mul- tidimensional role of culture in sustainable development in the context of the current European Union policies as well as to analyse measurement tools and methodologies, statistics and indicators related to cultural and other aspects of sustainability. The paper reflects on the actual discussions about culture considered “in, for and as” sustainable development, analyses the efforts at the UNESCO and EU level in order to define the methodology of measuring the role of culture in sustainable development, examines the situation in Croatia and proposes recommendations for further research.
