Sažetak
Metal-mediated N–H activation as the first step in catalytic conversion of ammonia into amines yields amido complexes and is usually carried out in solution. Cyclopalladated compounds are common intermediates in palladium-catalyzed reactions and can be prepared by solid-state methods, mechanochemistry and aging. We report a reversible solvent-free activation of gaseous ammonia at room temperature by a solid dicyclopalladated azobenzene (Figure 1). Reaction is followed in situ by solid-state Raman spectroscopy and gives an amido-bridged complex via a stable diammine intermediate.
