Sažetak
Nowadays, the Wi-Fi infrastructure is already present all around us in terms of a great number of access points and Wi-Fi enabled commercial devices. So, it practically presents a default connectivity solution for many emerging technologies like Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart City concept. In this paper, the measurement results of Wi-Fi channel in the outdoor building environment are given. Different propagation environments are considered in order to point out the possible sources of signal losses in the examined Wi-Fi channel. Also, for that purpose the influence of human hand signal absorption was shown by comparing the measurements performed by professional equipment with the ones obtained by a smart phone. Since in practical design of a Wi-Fi network it is necessary to take into account the position of the antennas, we considered the change of the antenna gain when the transmitter and receiver are at different heights in respect to each other. So, transmitter gain correction was estimated and a good agreement is shown between the calculated and measured received power level.
