Sažetak
In recent years many types of dental lasers are increasingly used for the soft and hard tissue application in field of orthodontics. Most commonly they are used in gingival surgery, exposure of impacted teeth, frenulum surgery, pain reduction during orthodontic treatment, enamel preparation for bracket bonding and for bracket debonding. The effect of the laser beam depends on the amount of their absorption in the tissue, or whether a particular tissue absorbs certain wavelengths. The water that is present in most tissues better absorbes beams of Erbium and CO2 lasers. In contrast, missed beams with smaller wavelength -Argon, diode and Nd: YAG lasers. Apatite crystals contained in the structure of bones and teeth well absorbe CO2 laser and the laser wavelength of the laser Erbium-friendly, and dont absorb short wavelength. Thus, for the soft tissue applications all wavelenghts can be used because it is absorbed by the tissue components. For hard tissue applications only erbium lasers can be used. Also, depending on the wavelength, all lasers have different depth of penetration into the tissue. Erbium laser is absorbed on the surface of tissue, while diode lasers penetrate deeper inside. Clinical photographs performed by Waterlase Iplus (Er, Cr: YSGG) - 2780 nm for the hard and soft tissues and Biolase EPIC 10 (940 nm, 10W) diode laser for soft tissue are presented. Cases with gingival surgery, impacted tooth exposure, gingival preparation for orthodontic microscrew setting are presented.
