Sažetak
Resilience is understood as an ability to withstand and recover from stressful life situations and challenges. Positive adaptation and coping strategies represent strengths and resources of recovery process and positive growth in facing with adverse circumstances. Family resilience is the process of coping with the stress and family structural adjustment in the situation of various challenge and crisis. Based on Froma Walsh theoretical framework the key processes that family resistance is based on three components: family belief system, models of family organization and communication processes in the family. The concept of family resistance explains processes of family resources for survival, recovery and development of its potential after the experience of stress or crisis. The paper deals with the concept of family resilience and its application in the social work theory, research and practice. Croatian contemporary and relevant literature shows a lack of theoretical review and research based papers in the field of family resilience as well as the lack of resilience-based family interventions. The paper will represent the importance of understanding family resilience for the social work theory and practice, and will present a few resilience family-oriented research designs with suggestion for the future research possibilities. Also, the model of family resilience approach with focus on strengthening the key family processes for resilience will be discussed as a platform for the practice- friendly interventions.
