Sažetak
As the Republic of Croatia has been preparing to accede to the European Union during the past few years, major changes at all levels of education have also consequentially been made. In the area of professional and in-service training, the most significant changes were those made under the influence of concepts such as the Knowledge Society and lifelong learning and education. This work utilises an analytical and critical approach to study the many ways in which the system of professional and in-service teacher training unfolds at all levels, and to outline its pros and cons. The results of the research conducted heretofore and of the implementation of professional training will be used to expound strategical guidelines for the better future development of professional and in-service teacher training.
