Sažetak
Numerous researches, made to improve mechanical properties of materials with plastic deformation, have brought scientist to discover and develop severe plastic deformation (SPD) technologies. The usage of SPD technologies result in getting ultrafine-graind microstructures of materials. Reduction of the grain size is the way to change many mechanical and physical properties of materials. One of the most important and oftenly used procedure is equal channel angular pressing/extrusion (ECAP/ECAE). The main characteristic of ECAP is that mechanical properties are significantly improved, whether subjected materials were metals, alloys or composites. Extreme reduction of crystal grain size is achievable in ECAP procedure. Not any other conventional technology of plastic deformation or heat treatment shows such good results as ECAP in improving mechanical properties of subjected materials. The most commonly used materials are aluminum and copper alloys (materials with FCC crystal grid). Because of improved mechanical properties and very low density of workpieces, ECAP procedure is used in aeronautical and space industry, medicine, automotive industry, energetics and sport. In this work is given review of ECAP procedures characteristics and tools.
