Sažetak
Austro – Hungarian occupation brought changes to the urban centres in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Radial traffic system was among the key planning regulations that Monarchy began during their rule in Mostar. The plan was completed in 1897 even though the first street had been pierced in 1889. The regulation continued throughout the interwar period. Consequently, the Rondo area became an important factor in the traffic communication. That resulted in the need to signify its central part as a public square. Chronology of the events that preceded construction of the Cultural Center after the Second World War focuses on the functional zoning of the architectural capacities in the central area and the six streets. The plans are summarised according to the available archival and published resources. Conclusion reviews the nowadays attitude towards the built heritage from the Austro – Hungarian and interwar periods.
