Sažetak
Today, biofuel (biogas, bioethanol, biodiesel) production presents one of the most important essentials for sustainable development all over the world. Biogas is mainly produced by anaerobic co-digestion of manure and a variety of agricultural waste or from organic fraction of municipal waste. The main problem for the process improvement is low digestibility of agricultural waste due to the high lignin content. One of the environmentally friendly method for this purpose is biological pretreatment using white-rot fungi. White-rot fungi, such as Trametes versicolor, are known as good producers of lignolytic enzymes and are also known to degrade different environmental pollutants, including phenolic compounds, from solid and liquid waste streams. In regards to anaerobic digestion, these compounds can inhibit the process or can cause the problems with the digestate use. The results of three case studies will be shown in this work a) research on different lignocellulose materials (sugar beet pulp, sawdust, grape pomace, corn silage, etc.) treatment with T. versicolor with the special emphasize on the process scale-up from the laboratory jars to solid-state bioreactors ; b) pilot-scale experiments of anaerobic digestion of cow manure and biologically pretreated corn silage ; c) techno-economical study of newly developed biogas production process.
