Sažetak
Examined the psychometric properties of the Shyness Scale (P. Zarevski and G. Jakus, 1990), administered to a sample of 518 female and 383 male high school graduates in Croatia. The scale showed a high internal consistency, a practically normal distribution, and a high correlation with self-rating of shyness. In accordance with the Croatian sex stereotype, female adolescents reported a higher degree of shyness than males. No difference in the desired degree of shyness was found between the sexes. The rough comparison of the prevalence of shyness in Croatian Ss with an American populational mean indicates a similar or somewhat lower degree of shyness among Croatian Ss.
