Sažetak
The paper shows the frequency and prognostic significance of diabetes in patients with peripheral vascular disease and especially in patients with critical limb ischemia as its most severe manifestation. The need for optimal pharmacological treatment in a particularly vulnerable subpopulation of patients with diabetes and peripheral arterial disease was pointed out, as well as the need for better implementation of current guidelines in light of often neglected polyvascular disease and coronary heart disease, which often coincides with peripheral vascular disease.
