Sažetak
Turbulent interactions between unidirectional turbulent flow, sediment transport and channel morphology in channels formed in non-cohesive soil initiate incipient motion of riverbed material and consequently development of different types of bedforms. Most common types of bedforms are dunes which directly influence flow pattern throughout the water column by inducing additional form friction through change in dynamical pressure distribution over riverbed. Additional friction generated by dunes is especially important for water level estimation during flood events, because underperformance of flood defense system can have disastrous consequences. Therefore, characteristics of dune field and flow pattern over it has been in research focus over decades, presenting challenge for alluvial morphodynamic research.
