Sažetak
Shadow IT has been debated among experts for years now, regarding topics such as information security for companies, innovation benefits, and other pros and cons that can come from unapproved IT. Though Shadow IT has a bad reputation for being unapproved by IT departments and a potential threat to company’s security, there can be some benefits, as long as companies are cooperative and understanding of the shadow IT concept. This research paper will define some of the problems that can arise from shadow IT, as well as discuss many of the benefits that can come from it. We will also comment on strategies that companies may use in order to make shadow IT an asset to their company, rather than a burden. Finally, we conclude that shadow IT should be considered by companies as a solution to issues with technology and productivity, and that companies can make shadow IT very successful if they work with their employees and accept the shadow IT, rather than just trying to block it.
