Sažetak
With fearful descriptions of death, war, and the physical and spiritual mutilation of nations and individuals, Nikolaus Lenau accentuates a feeling of sadness for the tragedy suffered by the Slavic heroes. He shows how censorship in 19th century destroyed the Slavic spirit. Giving the Slavs the outsider role in his poetry , Lenau expresses the need for the emancipation and integration of the Slavic nations and reveals their threatened historic reality: the domination by the Austrian Empire, which turned the Savs into the losers, will transform them into the existential outsiders.
