Sažetak
In this talk, I offer an account of fictional characters, taking as a starting point that they are artistic creations. First, I criticize what I call LMS approach, i.e. the approach taken by logicians, metaphysicians and semanticists, who are more concerned with their ontological status and truth conditions, than with explaining what is so distinctive about the way they contribute to the aesthetic experience of literature. I then offer my 'LA' approach (i.e. literary aesthetics), according to which fictional characters are composed of multiple layers, having to the with the writer's activities in creating a work of fiction, and reader's activities in engaging with it.
